Local Girls Perform @ Iontas

Iontas, Castleblayney, will soon play host to some authentic musical talAislingMcCent, with the combined efforts of two local female singers, Aisling McCormilla and Kelle Redmond, promising to make it a memorable night.

Saturday, 7 August will see Aisling McCormilla, a singer/songwriter and visual artist from Monaghan perform. Her music is informed by a diverse range of influences, from rock and metal to folk and country. Previously released singles include 2008’s Sediment of Centuries, featuring a typically intimate vocal delivery. Aisling’s work is underpinned by her ongoing reflection on the struggles and triumphs of lived experience. She has shown work and performed both locally and nationally, as well as appearing on stage in Japan, Germany, Greece and the UK. She is currently writing and recording new material, which she hopes to release August/September 2010. Aisling is ably backed up by Scott and Kate Griffin on violin and piano respectively, who, despite their tender years, are seasoned performers in their own right.

Performing her own set on the same night is Blayney local Kelle Redmond, whose unique and powerful voice has been entrancing audiences for some time. An accomplished singer, Kelle is well known for her mature and insightful interpretation of songs, and her voice is possessed of a quality that is as subtle as it is rich. The show is a must-see for music lovers, and offers a great opportunity to support original local talent.
