| Blogging, Google Ranking and Traffic Building
Although the title above seem to come from the plumbing trade theya are the topics that we will be discussing at the next meeting of the Monaghan E-Commerce Network.
The network is free to join and is a self help group for companies and individuals in Monaghan interested in selling on line. There have been two meetings so far and all involved learn something from each other through sharing their experience of e-commerce so far and their plans for the future.
After the last meeting , which focused on using Linked In, the members filled in a survey on what topics they would like the next few meetings to focus on. The topics that got the most requests were blogging, Google ranking and traffic building. All three topics are linked and interdependent so it should prove to be a lively discussion.
Paul from Brix Workwear recently got a great reaction to a blog he wrote titled:
“Blacksmiths invade Monaghan, leave chastity belt behind”.
This blog used a local event , the International Blacksmith Festival, a funny story and a little plug for product. Simple as that.
Come to the meeting on Tuesday and let’s get Monaghan selling on line.
Monaghan E-Commerce Network meeting Tuesday 30th August 7.00pm , Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan
Blacksmiths invade Monaghan, leave chastity belt behind...
Great excitement in Monaghan Town last weekend as we hosted the International Blacksmithing Festival. The center of the Monaghan Metropolis was cordoned off and covered and 10 forges were installed. Lots of people came to see the blacksmiths in action and there was a great buzz around the town. It was odd to see so many people simply staring in wonder at the blacksmith creating beautiful works of art out of glowing lumps of metal. You would pass by a group looking on at a blacksmith and pass by the same spot 30 minurtes later and see the same people transfixed , not having moved. I think it was a rare opportunity to see craftsmen actually working and to get a sense of the sounds and smells of industry and something actually, physically being made in front ogf your eyes rather than gormlessly looking at things in shops.
My kids had a great time as , for the staggering price of €3 , the artisan blacksmiths generously gave up their time to make house shoes and hooks with the kids. This was a great experience for them...the kids, not the blacksmiths. The blacksmiths were so patient and friendly and were true embassadors for their craft.
