The twins are marching in from everywhere as Carrickmacross Lions Club gears up to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of twins in Ireland this weekend. The first events of its kind in Ireland, all twins are requested to be in Carrickmacross this Saturday, 5 June in a bid to make this the best twin event in Europe. Registrations are flooding in from twins of all ages from all parts of Ireland. There will also be a wide range of twin themes on the day with representatives from Carhaix, the French town twinned with Carrickmacross in attendance and lots of other twin themed attractions. What’s more, all registered and participating twins can win up to €500 worth of prizes on the day. However, if you are not a twin you can still win! Come along and enjoy the entertainment that is all part of the massive Carrickmacross Festival programme that will run from 4 – 7 June. Enjoy all the attractions around the town, cheer on the parading twins and check out the shop discounts. Don’t forget it’s not just the twins who win as all support helps the local Lions Club support the Alzheimer’s sufferers and their carers in the area. So do your bit if you’re a twin and register online at www.carrickmacross.ie by clicking on the twin image. Alternatively, if you’re not online just pick up a form at the Shirley Arms Hotel in Carrickmacross or give Paddy a call on 086 0439084.
